Sawtooth Star Reflections

Are you ready to take a small step out of your traditional quilting box and try something new?
If so, then this class may be for you! We will take an ordinary sawtooth star quilt block and turn it into an extraordinary quilt.

Fabric: 3 yards of Paula Nadelstern fabric (3 different patterns). Seams So Easy has ordered the fabric for you.

Supply List:

  • Sewing machine, in good working order, and basic sewing supplies, including neutral- colored thread for piecing, and thin straight pins
  • A 1/4” foot for your sewing machine, or you need to know how to accurately sew a 1/4” seam on your sewing machine
  • Fabric cutting scissors and scissors for cutting template plastic
  • Rotary cutter, 28 mm, and a larger one (45-60 mm). Also, if you have one, an extra rotary 28 or 45 mm cutter with a used blade for cutting template plastic. If you don't have an extra cutter, there is no need to buy another one. Just bring a used blade and switch it out to cut your template plastic.
  • Rotary cutting mat: 18" x 24" or larger
  • Rotary cutting rulers: the best size rulers for this method are: 2 1/2” x 6”, 6 1/2 “ x 12”, and 8 1/2” x 24 1/2”. If you dont have the exact sizes listed here, just bring rulers that are close in size. The most helpful size is the 2 1/2” x 6,” which Seams Sew Easy sells.
  • A 12" plastic or wooden ruler for drawing lines. A clear plastic ruler is ideal.
  • Extra fine-point permanent markers, one red and one black: Pilot extra-fine point or Sharpie extra-fine point
  • A mechanical pencil, extra lead , and a good eraser; or a pencil, a good eraser, and a sharpener
  • A roll of blue painter's tape. Look for the lightest blue you can find.
  • Quilter's plastic template sheets: at least four sheets of see-through plastic template material with a 1/4" grid such as EZ Quilting or Wrights. Do not purchase rolled plastic template material - it will never lay flat enough for our purpose.

Helpful but not necessary
  • Rotating cutting mat, 12" - 14" square or round (in addition to the mat listed above)
  • Kaleidoscope mirror:  If you have a Marti Michell folding mirror, bring it. Linda has two sizes that she will bring to share.
